The Japanese tsunami was about 2m high when it hit Chile 21 hours later. Where it was constricted into narrow bays and up rivers, it swelled to over 4m. Waves and reflected waves continued to reverse the riverflow at short intervals for an additional 20 hours. Only minor damage in Constitución, but two towns near Concepción were badly hit, with 250 houses destroyed, mostly those that had been rebuilt after last year´s tsunami. Let´s hope third time lucky.
