38:50S 71:40W 2hrs by bus east of Temuco
A lovely little town in a wide valley surrounded by volcanoes. There´s a good walk up to the Truful Truful waterfalls which is well worthwhile, but it´s hard to get into Parque Nacional Conguillìo and the start of the great walking tracks without a car. Perhaps in summer there is more traffic to hitch a lift? I scored a 6km lift which enabled me to get Laguna Verde and back in a long day`s walk.
Avoid the single computer internet cafe that the locals warn you not to use. They`re right.
