34:20S 70:50W 11 hrs overnight bus N to Santiago from Lonquimay + 2hrs train S
The logistics worked out this way instead of getting off the bus at 3am in Talca in order to do this train ride. I chose Rengo as it looked like a reasonable sized, but not too big a town and has a modern architecture Basilica. The Basilica was closed, as was most of the town. At 9am a breakfast bar opened at the Plaza and they make a passable "italiano" (Chile`s favourite hot dog with diced tomato and mashed avocado). You probably have to love trains to enjoy the trip, which is why I was there.
