38:40S 71:40W 3 hours walk to the entrance from Melipeuco
This is a beautiful national park under the towering Volcan Llaima, and the centre of Chile´s proposed first "Geoparque" which is hoping to develop tourism and geotourism in the area in a sustainable manner. Tremendous rain forests open up into treeless lava flows, scoria plains and cut off lakes. The scenery changes are stunning. The Sendero de Chile passes through, but includes some pretty heavy going across glaciers.
