A surprise like an oasis with a winery in a mountainous desert landscape. It has a beautiful plaza, church and some fine colonial buildings, and a fine view to the snow-capped Alto de Cachi. The 3 hour walk back to Santa Rosa takes you through the spectacular gorges and formations of Las Flechas. The rocks have been built wrong: they are red, cream and grey layered sedimentary formations that are standing perpendicular instead of parallel to the earth`s surface. Some call this a lunar landscape, but it`s not at all like the moon - it`s from another planet.
