Tacna, Perú (far south)

The best thing about Tacna is the wonderful train through the dunes of the Atacama to Chile. But it´s a town of neat, green plazas, an impressive cathedral and worthy of spending more time in than I ever give it. There is some fine Pisco nearby, as well as many pre-Inca sites, and it´s a centre of excellence for dentistry and surgery that attracts tens of thousands of Chileans across the border.
