This is a very pleasant little city situated at the mouth of the Rio Maule and hidden from the sea behind the Cerro Motrun. It´s a busy fishing port, and before 27-F was a busy commercial port. The coastline is a feast of dramatic cliffs and rock pinnacles amongst broad black sand beaches. It´s normally a seaside resort, but one year after the earthquake and 15m tsunami of 27 February 2010, it´s not yet quite ready to put itself back on the market. There is still a lot of rebuilding to do, but the atmosphere is positive.
