¨El Ramal¨ train, Maule, Chile

This is one of the clasic train trips of the world, and the last operating passenger service in Chile from the main north south spine line out to the coast. It links Talca and Constitución along the wild waters of the Rio Maule. It´s mostly open forest and bushland, with many vineyards near Talca and a few isolated pastoral communities down the river.

You probably need to love trains or be fascinated with Chilean landscapes. It´s not for those in a hurry, nor those who get seasick in rickety, rockety carriages.
