Like a good tourist, I hopped on the ferry heading to the next milestone of Eidfjord, with its magnificent huge waterfall and cruise-ship wharf. All of which I didn't see, because I got off at the tiny town of Kinsarvik. A good spot to stop for a week in a waterside cabin (no booking required) and scale up the waterfall-lined valleys to the alpine tarns of the Hardangervidda Plataeu. There are lots of ferries coming and going, ships going past and the remnants of an old Viking Harbour.
