There's a nice little camping area about 3km east of the Norheimsund ferry terminal which makes a very agreeable alternative to a bed in the Bergen YMCA. You don't need an advance booking for a tentsite in the generously large grassy area. Europeans are funny campers though: while I trotted down to the shops, two other tents were erected right alongside me, which at least left plenty of lawn for others who might want to erect a circus tent. Norheimsund is the ferry access to the twons further up the fjord.
